Pray:¹

Father,

The sabbath began

With creation resting,

For you had done the work.

And likewise,

Upon this sabbath day,

Grant me the joy that slows,

The joy that sees,

The joy that savours,

The joy that beats in my chest

With delight for your craftsmanship.

That my hands may cease,

And my mouth may sing,

And my heart may glow

With the deeper gratitude,

As my slowing recalls

The God who renews all.
