Father

If not to be 

Busy,

What am I to be?

If not to be 

Distracted,

Where should I look?

If not to be

Overwhelmed,

How should I feel?

The answers required by this thirsty soul

Are the deepest wells of living water:

You.

In who my busy activity is surrendered to intimacy;

And my distracted frenetics surrendered to focus;

And my overwhelmed desire to control all things is surrendered in trust.

Today, Father, I surrender my soul again,

That you recreate me into the rhythms of your heart,

And the pace of rest.
